Modernism and Postmodernism

Modernism is based on and consists of movements from the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century, most people believe the 20th century was divided into two periods as following; movements Modernism and Post modernism. Modernism consists of art, architecture, literature and music. Many people say it was not a style but was a loose collection of ideas. People also say that Modernism and post modernism have a big relationship and can be categorized as the same sector alongside with modern, modernist and contemporary.  Modernism began around the 1980s until around 1945 and Postmodernism began after the Second World War. Modernist work was known as serious and unique art where as postmodernism is when technology came in and allowed artists to produce and create art with their own meaning to their work instead of basing it on one meaning. One of the differences between the two is that Modernism was based on logical meaning to gain knowledge and postmodernism was against logical thinking. The Modernism movement thinking was the search towards the truth of life, where again postmodernists believe there is no truth in this universe. So overall both movements just have different approaches to life.  In other words I think post modernism was like an upgrade to make the world a better place like the poet Ezra pounds says “make it new”.
